“Surviving World War II” with Monika Tandon
Monika is the author of the book Beyond My Wildest Dreams: A German Girl's Story of WWII and Beyond which details the harrowing experiences of her childhood in war-torn Germany. She was born in German occupied Poland early in the war. Her father had been drafted and was killed before her birth. As the Russian Army advanced into the area she became a refugee along with thousands of other civilians. Her story of those years is unforgettable.
Monika eventually came to the United States and became an American citizen. She graduated from college and became a high school teacher. She wrote this book so that her children and grandchildren would understand their heritage.
