“The Great Florida Invasion - From Pythons to Pepper" with Charles Sobczak
Charles Sobczak presents a fascinating look at the many invasive species that have arrived in Florida throughout history. Starting with the abandoned medieval swine from the ships of the Conquistadors through the recent introduction of Burmese pythons into the Everglades, this presentation delves into the environmental and financial costs of these exotic species. This session combines the serious issues surrounding this topic with plenty of eco-humor to lighten things up.
Mr. Sobczak is a resident of Sanibel and the author of two books: Living Sanibel and The Living Gulf Coast, which will be available for purchase. He is a featured speaker with the Sanibel Road Scholar program and the Ding Darling lecture series.
